Motivation for Weight Loss
Chances are that if you switch on the television or flip through the pages of a newspaper or magazine, you will come across weight loss diets and programs. With so many people being overweight, there are individuals who are making thousands of dollars telling them how to lose weight. The question however is should you really care that you are overweight or obese? Is it not your life at the end of the day? The sad truth is that as much as it is your life, you should be concerned about your weight. Being overweight prevents you from living your life to the fullest.
If you are struggling with obesity, there are many reasons why you need to get into a weight loss program. If you are young and obese, it is likely that you are unable to do what most young people your age do. You may feel uncomfortable going out with your friends, due to not liking the clothes that are available in your size. You find it difficult to perform simple physical activities. Accordingly, when your friends are planning an out door activity such as hiking they leave you out since you will only slow them down being heavy and all. Unless your aim is to lose your self-esteem and your friends along with it, get busy and lose that weight. Of course, not all friends are like this, and if they are truly friends, they should support you no matter weight you are!
If you have grand children and are overweight, you are going to miss out on them growing up. Children are full of energy and are always running around. You do not need to be told that it will be difficult if not impossible to play with them. Obese individuals are constantly out of breath and find even the simplest physical tasks such as walking from one place to another very difficult. Unless you want to be labeled as fat grandma or grandpa simply because you too fat to do anything except watch as the children play on their own, it is time you started losing weight.
There is yet another reason why you need to lose weight especially if you are growing old. Other than to look good, you need to remain healthy. Obesity in old age is associated with numerous health problems including heart attacks, stokes, type II diabetes and hypertension. Your twilight years are supposed to be spent travelling, relaxing and/or having fun with your grand children. This will not be possible if you are overweight.
If you sit and think about all the things you will not be able to do or will miss, you will be out searching for a weight loss program. In the first few days or weeks you may experience difficulties eating right and exercising. Keep a list of the stuff you do not want to lose. This should serve as your motivation and a constant remainder of why you are losing weight and why you must maintain it at a healthy level. You may get overwhelmed and throw a list away so recruit a close friend or relative to train with you and to keep you in focus and motivated.
